The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pepsi Cola International launched a talent hunt programme with the name ‘Pepsi Cricket Activation’. Joint press conference by PCB and Pepsi Cola officials concluded that the main mission of this programme is to select talented cricketers from all over the country. The PCB represent by Intikhab Alam and Wasim Bari whereas Khurram Koraishy represent Pepsi Cola.

The spokesperson for the Pepsi Cola said that many talented young boys may never get a chance to get selected for the national cricket team due to lack of opportunities. “For these young talented boys of Pakistan, Pepsi and PCB are launching this training programme where each and every boy, whether he belongs to any province or any city in Pakistan, will get a fair chance for getting short listed for being trained at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and eventually for the Pakistan cricket team.”

In the first stage of the programme, the tryouts will be held across Pakistan in which more than 100 cities will be covered: from Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, FATA to Swabi, Turbat and Dadu. Boy’s who are under 16 years of age will get a chance to prove his determination and selected by PCB’s qualified coaches and selectors. The selected individuals will then be grouped into 12 teams (11 regional and one FATA teams) and a regional tournament will be held surrounded by the most talented youth of the country. From this tournament, top 25 will be selected for rigorous training section at different level and if they remain performing well they will get a chance to get selected for the Under-19 team.

The Minister of Sports Ijaz Jakhrani doesn’t know ABC of Cricket as well as any other sports. So the top is empty. He was Health Minister before and appointed corrupt and incompetent people at various institutions ruining those institutions solidly. Then he moved to Sports where again he proved his total incompetency! In this time and age of razor shop competitions only the fittest will survive. Talent, hard work and honesty are the essential ingredients for success.

Our media also glamorize those who score and those who took wicket s. Never we give credits to those who by good fielding prevented runs of the opponents. So the players really do not care about good fielding. There should have been scores for every effort and event. On total scoring we should decide the performance of individual players.

If the players get old and are unfit then they must not be included. We must also be vigilant of our opponents in sport who can used any unethical mean to win. This may include girls (Shoaib Akhtar to marry Diya Mirza), drugs, drinks, mixing of allergy drugs in drinks etc. Until and unless we are careful, we may not be able to win.

Success requires Honesty, Competency, Dedication, hard work, accountability & Selflessness!

Nepotism are the worst poisons for a society. When Allah Ta’lah has ordered us to establish justice and merit and giving the responsibility to the competent and deserving. In Pakistan we are doing exactly the opposite. Most of the Ministers do not know ABC of their jobs. Same is true for most if not all Secretaries. So how can we progress? The same applies to many judges too. In this jungle of incompetency we will get what we are getting.

When we talk about Merit and Justice, our voice fell on deaf ears. No body is interested in correcting the society, everyone wants his or rights. But no one is ready to give the rights to others.

No individual or society can prosper unless it follows Allah’s Ayats

There are Ayats of Quran-e-Majeed and there are Allah Ayats in the universe. The later are the principles and laws of various things. For example a mango seed may require an optimal soil, water, temperature etc. No matter Hindu or Muslim who observe these signs will get good growth of Mango. Mere being a Muslim is not sufficient to get the good crop. You will have to surrender to the laws of Allah Ta’lah.

In order to progress and be successful the societies have to be just, fair and must run on merit. Not only this is aya governing the nations but we also see clear orders in Quran-e-Majeed to establish justice and balance the way Allah has put balance in every thing in Universe.

Let us obey Allah’s order of Justice and Merit in every sphere. This is the way we will win in every sphere of our lives. We must reward honesty and hard work & vice versa.

- Dr. Anwar Ul Haq
